3 Reasons Why You Are Living

Who hasn’t asked the question, why am I here? In our human condition and as we live in this broken earth, it’s easy to question your purpose for living. Especially when you feel unloved, without great value, and like you don’t belong.

When your ultimate needs have not been met in your childhood, it’s hard to see or believe you were created for your own unique mission. However, when you choose to become a disciple of Jesus, you have the opportunity to discover and live in your God-purpose. Let’s see three reasons why God made you.

3 Reasons God Created You

1.You are a God Designed Creation

For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;

Every day of my life was recorded in your book. (God’s Book of Life)
Every moment was laid out
before a single day had passed. Psalms 139:13-14, 16 NLT

Before the universe was spoke into being by God, He knew when He would create you at just the right time for His specific mission. God has no beginning and no end. And He knows ALL things. There’s no way for our human minds to comprehend this reality. However, just because we may not understand God’s ways, it doesn’t mean they are not divinely the best.

God’s design of us includes being in relationships. Our primary relationship is with God and Jesus Christ, and then with others. To understand and fulfill our God-purpose, we will need to live in a progressive personal relationship with Christ.

When you decide to become a disciple of Jesus Christ, you have the privilege and responsibility to be his apprentice. As you learn his ways and you are transformed into his likeness, you will have to choose to believe what God says or to find your own flesh purpose for being alive. Unless you believe and live in God’s purpose for you, you will use the messages, experiences, and beliefs you’ve formed to define your self-purpose.

2. You Have an Individual Mission and One United Purpose

Individual Mission:

For we are his (God’s) workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10 ESV

God knit you inside your mother’s womb with your specific talents, skills, personality, and quirks. He knew what you would need to accomplish your unique life-long mission for Him in His grand plan. Your mission is to show His love to the people you encounter in your unique way as you accomplish your good works in Christ. As you go through your life you will have many roles and jobs operating within your mission so don’t confuse your mission with your purpose.

Don’t be deceived by the devil or the world. Your roles, jobs, accomplishments, failures, or popularity don’t dictate your God-purpose, which all of His children share. The enemy wants you to believe what you do or don’t do determines your purpose. But never forget, he is the father of lies.

One United Purpose

Every child of God has the same purpose. We are designed to be in a personal growing relationship with God through Jesus. We are commanded to love God with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength. We are to love others as we love ourselves. We are to bear good fruit as walk in Christ’s authority sharing his gospel and making more disciples.

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20 NIV

3. You are the Light of Jesus Christ in this Broken World

“You are the light of the world. . . .   16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:14,16 NIV

When you choose to be a disciple of Christ, you are choosing to let him illuminate his light and love in you and through you. You are a ‘new creation’ in Christ. You will be different than people who are not walking in his light of love, joy, truth, grace, and peace. If you looked like the world, then Christ’s sacrifice would have been for nothing.

I know how difficult it can be to draw unwanted or unkind attention. However, as a disciple of Jesus and child of God we are called to live in Christ’s authority and power. When you are living full out for Jesus, you will be a beacon of hope.

Have courage and stand in your Christ-illumination! For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7 NLT There is no reason for us to fear what man will do to us. There is every reason to live your life worthy of the love and sacrifice of Jesus. Fulfill your unique mission and operate in your united purpose as a child of God!
