How many times have you looked at your personal life or a relationship and wanted the opportunity to have a “do-over” or a fresh beginning?
In our broken world, we can’t do things over. However, we can have a fresh beginning! On Easter, we celebrate the resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ. His resurrection could not happen unless he died. Jesus tells us and shows us how we must die to sin and self-focused desires, dreams, and goals to follow him. As you dwell with Jesus, you will find unimaginable joy, peace, strength, and a kingdom vision for your life surpassing your previous one.
If this seems opposite to what you understand, you are not alone. The entire life of Jesus opposed the world’s self-focus and demand for power and control. In your youth, you were driven by your desire to “be your own person.” With age, you begin to realize life is hard and you have a choice to walk with Jesus or to walk through life alone.
I know what it is like to feel stuck and to wonder if you will ever break free, even though I was a believer. My breakthrough happened when I chose to foster a personal relationship with Jesus every day. I learned faith was a progressive personal partnership. Over the years God showed me revelations in His word. He also showed me life lessons to help me move to the healed side of abuse and pursue my fresh beginning.
Like me, your fresh beginning can start when you choose to find your truths, the lies you believed, and create a Christ vision for your future. To help you move from where you are right now to where you want to be with Christ will be an amazing journey.
You cannot run before you roll over or crawl and you cannot skip the steps of healing. You will need to cross the paradigm bridge from where you are to your fresh beginning of living in Christ’s design of love. Your healing will be much like a chick breaking out of its shell or a butterfly breaking free from its cocoon.
The process of breaking free is echoed in the writings of the apostle Paul and the disciple James, “faith without works is dead.” In other words, we are responsible for working with Jesus to learn, grow, and use our faith to break free from what encases our minds and hearts. We must go through the process of discovery, choice, and actions to find a fresh beginning.
