Finding Your True Self in the Loving Presence of God

In the world of sin and temptations, devout Christians may question who they are.  Christians are told that God made them and gave up his beloved son Jesus Christ to bring them Salvation. Knowing this truth doesn’t tell you who you are in God’s eyes and through Christ’s love.

Without learning God’s truth, you can only use your experiences, messages, and beliefs from your past to determine who you are. Nothing will change until you change what you know. When we don’t know God’s truth in the Bible, and we don’t have a progressive personal relationship with Jesus Christ every day, we’re deceived by the devil into believing we are what we have experienced.

We try to hide behind a mask we wear in public. We let our emotions of doubt overshadow God’s truth about us. It’s time for you to know the truth of God so you can be free to be the unique person He created you to be. Let’s look at three truths about who you are, according to God and Jesus Christ.

God Handcrafted You from His Perfect Love:

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Psalms 139:13-14 NIV

God handcrafted you from His perfect love inside of your mother’s womb. He uniquely designed you for specific missions and roles as you live on earth. He also gave you the power and freedom to choose who you would follow and serve in your life. You are the chosen and favored child of God when you have received Salvation. You are a masterpiece and created to love God first and foremost, and to love others AS you love yourself. You are created in the image of God. You are beloved by Him, that’s who you are to God.

You are a New Creation in Christ’s Love:

God also gives every person the opportunity to live in His full love and power when you accept Jesus as your Savior and Lord. Once you choose to be a disciple of Jesus, God made it possible for you to be made new, just like a caterpillar being transformed into a butterfly.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! 2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV

Even if you don’t feel new when you ask Jesus to be the Lord of your life and to forgive your sins, the truth of God says, you are a new creation. When you believe you’re not good enough or worthy to be loved by Jesus, you’re forgetting that he is living in you, which proves you are priceless in his eyes. As you come to accept that Jesus loves you in a personal relationship, he transforms you into his loving likeness. You are a beacon for Christ’s love, so let it shine.

You are a New Creation in Christ’s Love:

You Are in Christ:

I am chosen of God, holy and dearly loved. Col. 3:12; 1 Thessalonians 1:4

I am a son of light and not of darkness. 1 Thessalonians5:5

I have been given a spirit of power, love, and self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7

God and Jesus made it possible for you to be all these things through Jesus Christ. These truths, and many more, are who you are as Christ’s disciple. Now it’s time for you to proclaim who you are and to work with Jesus as he transforms you to be more like him each day. You are the masterpiece and child of God. You are the disciple and temple of Jesus Christ. That’s who you are!
