His stories stir our curiosity of the unknown and acknowledge how each one of us has our own perspective, ideals, and the power to choose. The quote above reveals your uniqueness while it inspires you to live in what makes you specifically you.
As you age, it becomes more difficult to live in the gratefulness of your individuality. We are all challenged by degrading messages, painful experiences, and the pressure of society demanding us to conform to the world’s standards, self-serving purpose, and disrespectful morals. In place of celebrating your differences, people may devalue, bully, and treat you as an outcast. In other words, you become a victim of verbal, mental, psychological, and even physical abuse.
Living in Your Uniqueness and Unity
The greatest truth for you to know is that you don’t have to hide your individuality. You don’t have to follow or become a victim of the world’s self-serving demands, values, and low morals. Only you have the power to choose what to believe about your distinctiveness and who’s moral design you will follow. In fact, the apostle Paul explains God’s perfect design of living in your uniqueness, unity, and diversity within the world in 1 Corinthians 12:21-26 NIV.
The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” And the head cannot say to the feet, “I don’t need you!” On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it, so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.
What Would Happen?
What would happen to our world if we followed God’s design of living in our uniqueness while we accepted and worked in unity with one another? How would God’s model change our experiences of peace, harmony, and respect?
You can’t make anyone follow God’s model. However, you can show others how appreciating your individuality brings you peace, love, and empowerment as you follow Christ. God tells you that He knitted you together in your mother’s womb. Take time to see how your specific skills and talents fit into the whole function of the body of Christ. Get involved in your church and be a part of God’s grand plan to bring hope, healing, and salvation to the world.
